Products & Prices

Where can I see all of the prices? Expand

The complete list of our products is available on the website, please go to our shop

How do quantities work? Expand

When you order, please indicate the quantity you would like. All products are priced per 100g or 100ml for liquids

What is zero waste? Expand

Zero waste basically means reducing your waste as much as possible. It is impossible to truely produce ‘zero waste’ but its about being aware of the waste you are creating and making an effort to tackle this. We believe zero waste is really a journey, and is individual for each person. If we all made small changes then cumulatively it would make a big difference.

What containers should I use? Expand

You can bring absolutely any dry, clean container to refill. You can bring fabric bags, cardboard or tupperware boxes, plastic bags or glass jars- whatever you like really! The most important thing is to weigh your containers before you begin. There is no need to buy new containers or jars for refilling, you can use anything you already have.

Can i bring plastic containers to a 'plastic free shop'? Expand

Of course! It is much better to use something you already have, that can be re used again and again.

Is zero waste shopping more expensive than shopping at the supermarket? Expand

We have a large range of organic products, and all of our products are from ethical suppliers (meaning farmers and people along the supply chain are paid fairly) this means to cost per 100g will be more expensive than supermarket own brands. Our prices are comparable with similar quality products for similar ethical suppliers. Some of our dried products are notably cheaper than supermarkets, particularly items such as chia seeds and natural organic apricots, that are usually sold in small prepackaged bags at the supermarket
The beauty of zero waste shopping is that you only buy the quantity that you need, so it often can work out more economical as you aren’t forced to large quantities in prepackaged bags from the supermarket. Buying only the amount you need means you save waste, especially with items such as seeds and spices, where you may only need a small amount for a recipe.
It is also worth remembering that a small shop such as ourselves, will not have the same buying power as a big supermarket. We ensure our suppliers are paid fairly, and we are buying (local where possible) ethically sourced products. Remember that supermarkets often sell certain products at a loss to attract customers.
Our liquids refills in particular are very good value for money. Our ‘FILL’ branded refills as made in the UK and contain no nasty chemicals, for example a 250ml regular soap bottle will cost £1 when on offer in the supermarket, to refil this with us will always cost £1. An average washing up liquid bottle size refil (450ml) will cost approx £1.13

Do you have containers I can use if I dont have my own? Expand

We always have paper bags for you to use for dried products, we also have reusable freezers bags if you need them for frozen items. We do sell a small range of liquid containers, for shampoo, soap and cleaning liquid refills. We usually have donated containers that customers can leave (cleaned) and we sanitize and have available for customers to take. Unfortunately due to the current covid situation we are unable to take donated containers at the moment, as we do not have the space to store them while in ‘quarantine’ after we receive them.

How do I work out how much of a product I have? Expand

We have a set of scales that you weight your container before you fill it, you can then use this to check your rough weight as you fill it if you like. Staff are always happy to advise and weigh things out for you if required. When you have your desired amount, the scales attached to our till will calculate the price of your item automatically by taking away your original container weight. This means you only pay for the amount of product you have dispensed

What if I pour too much into my jar? Can i put it back? Expand

Unfortunately no, We can not guarantee the cleanliness of customer containers, and the potential that allergens are contained in your container. Due to the fact we are a small business with small margins, we ask that any product dispensed in your containers needs to be paid for. If you are unsure how to operate the dispensers or need help measuring anything out please ask our staff. We are always happy to help!

Can I put different products in the same jar? Expand

Any products that are the same price can be mixed in the same container (remember to weigh it before you start filling) If you would like to mix up products of differing prices per 100g, then simply tell staff and we can help you. All this means is that we weigh your container between each new product and tally up the cost as you go along.

How are the liquid prices calculated? Expand

The liquids can be weighed , exactly the same as the dried foods. Simply weigh your container before you fill and staff will weigh them afterwards and our scales will calculate the price. Alternatively if you have a container that has a ml marking on, we can work from the volume (if it is empty to start with) For example if you have a 300ml bottle and want to fill with washing up liquid then this is 25p per 100ml, so 3 x 25p = 75p

Do my jars need to be empty before I fill them? Expand

-No, you just need to make sure that you weigh the container before you start filling with our products. It is the original weight that gets taken off the filled weight, so you can just top up a jar that contains something, you will only pay for the weight of the top up

Is everything organic? Expand

IS EVERYTHING ORGANIC?
Not everything, our dispensers are clearly labelled if they are organic. We aim to have a mixture of organic and non organic products, to cater for a range of customers. We appreciate that organic is a more expensive option, so we aim to make zero waste as accessible as we can for everyone.
